Job summary

Downer is seeking a Construction Manager to deliver a portfolio of water and utility projects across Otago from our Dunedin office with site visits. You will lead the construction team from conception to completion, aligning with safety standards and client expectations.

You will review deliverables, estimate costs, manage multiple sites and subcontractors, and grow the team’s capability within the Water Maintenance and Construction groups.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification or equivalent in Engineering and a project management certification.
• 8+ year experience in water/wastewater/utilities industry.
• Ability to read, understand and ensure contract specifications and contract requirements are fully implemented.
• Demonstrable experience of managing multiple sites including suppliers and sub-contractors.
• Demonstrable experience in preparing and submitting Monthly Claims and Financial Reporting.
• Highly desirable to have proven Business Management experience with responsibility and accountability for staff, and plant.
• Proven experience in managing people and team cultures.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and directs the construction team to manage projects from conception to completion.
• Reviews project deliverables and estimates costs.
• Grow resource and project management capability within the South region for Water Maintenance and Construction teams.
• Work closely with clients internal and external while maintaining Downer’s reputation and Zero Harm standards.
