Job summary

Downer is seeking a Regional Manager Central based in Tauranga to lead the performance and growth of a Water construction and O&M portfolio. You will work with Contract Managers and operations teams to deliver strong commercial, customer and safety outcomes, with Wellington or Nelson as alternative bases for the right candidate.

You will bring a strong commercial mindset and a proven ability to lead people, performance and operations of a complex business.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in large, multi-disciplinary teams
• Proven P&L responsibility and commercial accountability
• Experience leading complex contracts, projects or portfolios
• Strong people leadership with track record of building high-performing teams
• Excellent customer and stakeholder relationships
• Experience improving operational and financial performance in water/infrastructure contexts
• Tertiary qualification in Business, Engineering, Finance, Commerce or related field

Responsibilities

• Oversee regional performance and growth of Water construction, O&M contracts and related services
• Lead Contract Managers and their teams to deliver on financial and safety targets
• Develop and sustain customer relationships and contract performance
• Drive commercial risk management and performance improvement initiatives
• Champion safe, sustainable delivery and Zero Harm leadership
• Support business growth and new opportunities in the Water sector

Based in Tauranga, lead the performance, people and growth of Downer's regional Water business and help deliver essential infrastructure for communities across New Zealand.

Join Downer as Regional Manager Central, leading the performance and growth of a diverse portfolio of Water construction projects and Operations and Maintenance contracts.

Ideally based in Tauranga, you'll work closely with Contract Managers and operational teams to deliver strong commercial, customer and safety outcomes. Wellington or Nelson may also be considered for the right candidate.

You’ll bring a strong commercial mindset and experience leading the people, performance and operations of a complex business or portfolio.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Operational and financial performance, including P&L, forecasting and margin improvement
• Leading and developing Contract Managers and their teams
• Customer relationships, contract performance and retention
• Commercial risk and performance improvement
• Safe, sustainable delivery and Zero Harm leadership
• Supporting business growth and new opportunities

Water industry experience would be a real advantage. We're also open to proven leaders from closely related utilities or infrastructure environments who bring the commercial, operational and people leadership capability to succeed in Water.
