Job summary

Te Puna Ora o Mataatua in Whakatāne seeks a proactive Re-engagement Pathways Co-ordinator to support 14–16-year-old rangatahi who are disengaged from school, helping them become work-ready and transition into education, training or employment.

You will build strong networks with schools, training providers, employers and whānau, identify strengths and aspirations, and create practical next steps while safeguarding confidentiality and promoting Kaupapa Māori values.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification or experience with high-risk or disengaged rangatahi.
  • Strong administration skills and confidentiality awareness.
  • Ability to empathise with vulnerable rangatahi and whānau.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support rangatahi aged 14–16 to design pathways toward education or employment.
  • Build relationships with schools, training providers, employers and community partners.
  • Identify strengths and aspirations and connect networks to opportunities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and administer program records.

Our Rangatahi Hub is a vibrant space where rangatahi are supported to design their own pathways toward education, training, and employment.

We are seeking a proactive Re-engagement Pathways Co-ordinator to work with 14–16-year-old rangatahi who are disengaged from school, supporting them to become work ready and transition into meaningful education, training, or employment opportunities. This role focuses on creating strong pathways by building relationships with schools, training providers, employers, and community partners.

You will work alongside rangatahi and their whānau to identify strengths, aspirations, and achievable next steps, while actively fostering networks that open doors and create real opportunities.

For this role, we are looking for someone who has:

  • Relevant qualification or experience working with high risk or disengaged rangatahi
  • Strong administration skills, proficient in the Microsoft Office suite and an understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality
  • The ability to identify and empathise with vulnerable rangatahi and their whānau
  • Strong networking and relationship building skills.
