Job summary

Jora New Zealand seeks a Coach - Education Engagement to re-engage chronically absent and no-enrolled students aged 5–16. You will conduct needs assessments, develop Education Engagement Plans and coordinate with schools and agencies to boost attendance and participation.

The role requires a Bachelor in Social Work, Education, Psychology or similar, plus a Youth Work Level 4 certificate and 4+ years in related fields, including facilitation. A NZ driver’s licence is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor in Social Work, Education, Psychology, or similar.
  • Certificate in Youth Work Level 4.
  • 4+ years in social services, education or similar role with 2+ years in group facilitation.
  • 4+ years' experience providing extensive case management / mentoring rangatahi and working with Māori or Pasifika.
  • Full NZ Driver’s Licence (Class 1).

Responsibilities

  • Support chronically absent and no-enrolled students aged 5–16 to re-engage with education.
  • Conduct needs assessments with tamariki/rangatiki and whānau/caregiver(s) to develop Education Engagement Plans.
  • Create and implement Education Engagement plans with realistic goals for attendance and engagement at school.
  • Complete all record keeping, administration and reporting within deadlines and to the standard required.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reports to upl ine Manager.

The primary purpose of the Coach - Education Engagement isto support chronically absent and no-enrolled students aged 5 – 16 to re-engagewith education. This role involves case management, barrier identification,whānau engagement, and collaboration with schools and agencies to develop andimplement attendance improvement plans. In this role, you will:

  • Completea needs assessment with tamariki / rangatahi and whānau / caregiver(s) tounderstand barriers and guide the creation of the Education Engagement Plan
  • Produce an Education Engagement plan to providerealistic goals for improved attendance and engagement at school
  • Complete all record keeping, administration andreporting within deadlines and to the standard required
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reports to uplineManager

We are looking for someone who has the following:

  • Bachelor in Social Work, Education, Psychology,or similar
  • Certificate in Youth Work Level 4
  • 4+ years’ in social services, education orsimilar type role with 2+ years’ experience in group facilitation
  • 4+ years’ experience providing extensive casemanagement / mentoring rangatahi and working with Māori or Pasifika
  • Full NZ Driver’s Licence (Class 1)

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness toparticipate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of ĀhuatangaMāori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
