Job summary

Hyundai Rotem Company in Wellington is seeking Maintenance Mechanical Engineers to perform fault finding, maintenance, and repair of EMUs and passenger carriages. This hands‑on role involves a team environment with shift work and a guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week.

The ideal candidate has a NZQA level 4/5 trade qualification or equivalent, 4+ years of hands-on maintenance experience, and familiarity with relevant specs and safety practices.

Qualifications

• NZQA level 4 or 5 trade qualification or equivalent in an Automotive / Mechanical / Electrical field
• At least four years of hands-on experience in maintenance, fault finding, repair and incident recovery
• Experience working with relevant technical specifications, standards and practices
• Involvement with heavy industry or the automobile industry or experience in locomotives, ships or similar
• Being a registered / licensed electrician would be beneficial but is not essential

Responsibilities

• Carrying out routine maintenance work in compliance with the schedule
• Executing the maintenance, fault‑finding, repair, and incident recovery of assets
• Carrying out maintenance and repairs to EMU including scheduled maintenance checks, out of course repairs, incident recovery and repairs, and other maintenance activities
• Using sound mechanical engineering practices and safety standards
• Adherence to health & safety compliance and regulations in a safety critical environment
• Managing documentation professionally
• Focusing on the security of plant and equipment
