Job summary

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Southern is seeking a Medical Imaging Technologist to lead the Unit Charge MIT role in Christchurch. This 0.9FTE permanent position involves supporting staff development, coaching MITs, coordinating inductions, and contributing to competency assessments within a busy radiology service.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years clinical MIT experience.
• Proven mentoring or supervision experience.
• Commitment to equity and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in healthcare.
• Experience in a tertiary hospital is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing day-to-day workflow, resource allocation, and clinical prioritisation.
• Providing clinical imaging expertise and supporting staff with complex examinations.
• Coordinating induction, training, and competency assessments for MITs and trainees.
• Supporting roster planning, leave coordination, and out-of-hours service needs.
• Maintaining high standards of patient privacy, safety, and quality care.
• Monitoring waiting times, workload indicators, and other operational metrics.
• Leading quality assurance processes and supporting audit, accreditation, and regulatory activities.
• Liaising with service engineers and coordinating equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Supporting a positive team culture that reflects Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and Te Mauri o Rongo.
