Job summary

The New Zealand Government is looking for a Consultant Radiologist to join the team at Taranaki Base Hospital in New Plymouth. This casual position involves reporting on various imaging studies including plain film, ultrasound, CT, and MRI, as well as providing some interventional work.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and leverage state-of-the-art imaging modalities upgraded in 2022. Ideal candidates will have vocational registration and essential skills in general imaging reporting.

Qualifications

Consultant Radiologist (Casual) – Taranaki Base Hospital, New Plymouth

About the Role

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Taranaki is seeking a casual general radiologist to work in our department at Taranaki Base Hospital. You will work as part of a dynamic team with radiologists and a wider multidisciplinary team, contributing to diagnostic excellence for the community of Taranaki and the wider New Zealand community through data and digital connectivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting on general plain film, ultrasound, CT and MRI studies.
  • Providing interventional work and angiography as required.
  • Delivering fluoroscopy and other imaging services to support patient care.
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to achieve high‑quality outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Essential skills: general plain film, ultrasound, CT and MRI reporting.
  • Desirable sub‑specialty interests: musculoskeletal MRI; general interventional radiology (no intracranial work); CT colonography; cardiac CT; or nuclear medicine.
  • Vocational registration from the Medical Council of New Zealand or eligibility for registration through recognised postgraduate qualifications from another country.
Additional Information

All modalities are state of the art, with CT, MRI and ultrasound upgraded in 2022. An integrated regional RIS/PACS is in use.
