Job summary

Feisst Group is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the Hamilton commercial team, driving cost management across the project portfolio. You’ll handle cost planning, procurements, valuations, variations and final accounts in a hands-on senior capacity.

You will mentor junior commercial/QS staff and collaborate closely with clients, subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring accurate tender records and robust cost control across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' commercial/QS experience in construction
• Knowledge of NZS3910/NZS3916 contracts and CCA
• Experience with cost plans, progress claims/valuations, variations and final accounts
• High accuracy and attention to detail; manage multiple projects
• Strong communicator and relationship-builder, mentor capability
• Excel skills; Jobpac Connect experience a bonus

Quantity Surveyor – Feisst Electrical - Hamilton

Are you a commercially-minded QS who thrives on getting the numbers right and building lasting relationships? We're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team in Hamilton and drive cost management across our project portfolio.

Feisst Group is a family of businesses. In this role, you'll work across three of them – Feisst Electrical, Select Alarms and Structured Technologies – delivering electrical, security and structured cabling solutions across the region, with a genuine commitment to our people, customers and communities.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager – Commercial, you'll be a core member of the project delivery team, covering cost planning, procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts. It's a hands-on, senior role with scope to mentor junior commercial/QS team members.

Key responsibilities:

• Price, negotiate and process variations, maintaining accurate tender, quotation and estimate records
• Manage cost control, budgets and cash flow, monitoring priced work against quoted costs and reporting on variances
• Prepare and negotiate monthly progress claims/valuations
• Build and manage relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers, including accounts and procurement
• Support project reviews and identify performance improvements
• Coach, mentor and quality-check junior commercial/QS team members
• Attend site and client meetings as required

About you

• 5+ years' commercial/QS experience in construction (main contractor or subcontractor), or a relevant tertiary qualification plus equivalent experience
• Sound knowledge of NZS3910/NZS3916 contracts and the Construction Contracts Act
• Proven experience with cost plans, progress claims/valuations, variations and final accounts, and managing subcontractor/supplier accounts end-to-end
• High accuracy and attention to detail; able to juggle multiple projects under pressure
• Strong communicator and relationship-builder, comfortable mentoring less experienced team members
• Strong Excel skills; Jobpac Connect experience a bonus
