Job summary

Fulton Hogan Nelson is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the team. You will manage contract claims, cost forecasting, and budget control while collaborating with project managers to ensure projects stay within budget and reporting is accurate for stakeholders.

The role requires a tertiary qualification (NZDE or QS), a Class 1 driver’s licence, and a proactive, team-oriented mindset. A competitive remuneration package is on offer for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or higher qualification in quantity surveying or a related field.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards.
• Willingness to contribute proactively and take on tasks.
• Driver's licence (Class 1) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit contract claims and reports for cost forecasting and KPI data.
• Forecast costs and manage budgets to keep projects on track.
• Collaborate with project managers to prepare claims, reports and KPI information.
• Administer purchase orders and ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Support the team with additional tasks as needed.

The Opportunity

A rare opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join us at Fulton Hogan Nelson. If you enjoy crunching numbers, reviewing costs and preparing claims to clients, this could be for you. You will be responsible for preparing and presenting claims and undertaking cost management including forecasting to ensure the project/s stay within budget, providing regular updates to the client.

Role Accountabilities

• Contract Claims - ensuring accuracy and on time delivery
• Prepare and submit reports including cost forecasting and monthly reporting for internal and external stakeholders
• Work with project managers in preparation for contract claims, reports and KPI information required for the contract
• Administer purchase order creation, receipting and tracking utilising JDE 9.2
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with any specification or standard prepared for a particular job
• Getting stuck in with the team to help with any other tasks that are required

What you'll bring to the table

• Appropriate tertiary qualification (NZDE or QS)
• Class 1 drivers' licence
• Previous industry experience preferred
• Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation and standards
• Strong communication and relationship building skills
• Can do attitude and willing to give it a go
