Job summary

Silver Fern Farms is seeking a Quality Assessor at the Balclutha site to maintain and improve our quality systems, performing inspections and ensuring processes and documentation meet customer, regulatory and company standards. You will champion compliance initiatives, support continuous improvement across processing teams, and work in a role with 40 hours per week across three shift patterns.

• Experience in Quality Assurance/Control or Process Control.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Great organisation, planning capability, and a positive approach.
• Ability to balance the needs of both Quality and Production with diplomacy.
• Confident computer skills across Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Job description

As a Quality Assessor, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving our quality systems across the site. You’ll ensure inspections, processes, and documentation consistently meet customer, regulatory, and company standards.

Your work will directly influence our ability to deliver high‑quality products and uphold the integrity and reputation of Silver Fern Farms. You’ll also champion our compliance initiatives and support continuous improvement across processing teams.

Shift Patten: There are 3 different rotations, a 5/5.30am start, 7am start and the 2.30pm/3pm start (around 40 hours per week).

Please be aware that due to the nature of this position, while secure and permanent, it has a seasonal shutdown period annually for around 6-8 weeks.

We’re looking for someone who brings both experience and the right attitude, including:

• Experience in Quality Assurance/Control or Process Control
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Great organisation, planning capability, and a positive approach
• The ability to balance the needs of both Quality and Production with diplomacy
• Confident computer skills across Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
