Job summary

Access Community Health – Hamilton, North Island is seeking a compassionate Home Care Support Worker to provide safe, respectful, person-centred assistance in clients’ homes. You’ll support daily living activities and respond to varied care needs with cultural safety in mind.

You will work up to 35 hours per week, with a pay rate of $30.27 per hour, and participate in structured induction, ongoing training, and clear development pathways.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 months' proven experience in the Support Worker role
• Spinal injury experience required
• Experience administering prescribed medication
• Full driver's license
• Understanding and respect for Te Tiriti o Waitangi and bicultural approach
• Ability to use written support plans appropriately

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, respectful, person-centred support in people’s homes, mindful of what matters to them, their culture, values, beliefs, routines and boundaries
• Support daily living activities such as palliative care, bowel care, dementia, mental health and medication administration
• You’ll be supported through structured induction, ongoing training, refreshers, and clear development pathways

Each Tangata will have high risk individual care requirements, and you will support them with all elements of daily living such as:

• Palliative Cares
• Bowel Cares
• Dementia
• Mental Health
• Medication

You will provide safe, respectful, personcenteredsupport in people’s homes, including being mindful of what matters to them, their culture, values, beliefs, routines, and boundaries. You’llbe supported through structured induction, ongoing training, refreshers, and clear development pathways.

This role is 35 hours per week, $30.27 per hour.

The following skills and experience may be required depending on the specific client needs you are matched to.

• Level 4 Health and Wellbeing Certificate required (recognised in NZ)
• Minimum 18 months' proven experience in the Support Worker role
• Spinal injury experience required
• Experience in managing autonomic dysreflexia required
• Experience administering prescribed medication
• Experience in the use of full, standing, and two-person hoist
• The ability to use written support plans appropriately
• Understand and respect for the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and bi-cultural approach
• Full driver's license
• Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters to each person
• Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds
