Job summary

Access Community Health – Spreydon, South Island is seeking a Kaiāwhina to provide person-centred support for one client in Spreydon, Christchurch. You will help with daily routines, mobility support, meals, and community outings, delivering compassionate care within culturally safe practice.

Flexible hours, weekend shifts, and ongoing training are available. You’ll join a dedicated team and contribute to a valued client’s independence in their home and community.

Qualifications

  • The role requires a warm, patient, and caring approach.
  • Experience matching the specific client needs is beneficial.
  • Must be able to support bowel management and follow care plans.

  • Personal care and daily routines (morning and evening)
  • Mobility support, transfers, and safe use of hoists (as trained)
  • Passive exercises and positioning to support comfort and wellbeing

The skills and experience listed below may be required depending on the specific client needs you are matchedto



  • A warm, patient, and genuinely caring approach

  • Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or have equivalent, relevant experience

  • Experience supporting bowel management/manual bowel care

  • Comfortable supporting more complex needs and following care plans

  • Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person

  • Have experience in or exposure to caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or otherpeople‑facingroles

  • Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds

  • Restricted or full driver’slicence

  • The right to work in New Zealand

OurKaiāwhinaSkills Framework training takes place during your first two–four weeks of employment and builds on your current experience to provide care to our valuedclientsthe Access way.Weprovide year-round training with regular refreshers and new modules to keep your skills up to date.You’llbe supported through structured induction, ongoing training, refreshers, and clear development pathways.
