Job summary

Rakon Limited in Auckland is seeking a hands‑on Qualification Testing Technician to join our Product Reliability and Qualification team. You will support development and qualification of world‑leading electronic products, working with engineers to ensure performance, reliability, and quality before release.

Qualifications

  • An Electronics Technician qualification or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Previous experience in a technician, testing, qualification, or reliability‑focused role.
  • Strong understanding of electronics theory and practical electronics.
  • Experience using electronic test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and frequency counters.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, flowcharts, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with soldering, electronic assembly, and test jig construction.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Good computer literacy and experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to following processes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a range of electrical measurements and qualification tests to support product development and reliability activities.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain test equipment and test environments.
  • Ensure test equipment remains accurately calibrated and fit for purpose.
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret test data to support engineering investigations and decision-making.
  • Prepare accurate test records and communicate results to engineers and technical stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot test equipment, test jigs, and qualification setups to minimise downtime.
  • Diagnose equipment and product issues and escalates findings to the Team Leader where required.
  • Trace circuitry, investigate faults, and assist with technical problem‑solving activities.
  • Check and verify wiring, cable connections, and electronic assemblies used within test setups.
  • Build, modify, and maintain test jigs and fixtures.
  • Assist with prototype assembly and engineering experiments.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving testing efficiency, repeatability, and reliability.

What You'll Be Doing

Product Qualification & Testing
