Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking a QC Laboratory Technician for an 18-month fixed-term position at its Upper Hutt site, Wellington, New Zealand. You will support assay performance, manage workload, and help ensure timely release of products in a quality-focused QC laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
• Experience working in a QC, laboratory or quality-focused manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of SOPs, GLP and Good Documentation Practice.

Responsibilities

• Perform, document and coordinate activities within the assigned QC Laboratory area.
• Monitor assay performance and support the timely release of intermediate and final products.
• Ensure adequate stocks of reagents, test materials and equipment are available to perform testing on time.
• Plan, conduct, report and interpret routine laboratory assays in accordance with SOPs.
• Accurately document all tasks, test data and observations in test records, worksheets and logbooks in accordance with GDP.
• Peer review the work of team members on procedures you are fully trained in.
• Develop and maintain documentation in line with company and quality standards.
• Assist with SOP and worksheet development and updates.
• Perform housekeeping tasks in accordance with SOPs and GLP.
• Complete assigned housekeeping inspections.
• Maintain laboratory equipment in a fully operational state of calibration and validation.
• Perform routine calibrations as required.
