Job summary

Gault Mitchell Law in Wellington is seeking a Junior to Intermediate Solicitor to join its growing team. This varied practice offers exposure to property, private client, and commercial matters with direct mentoring from experienced Partners.

You will work closely with senior lawyers to develop your expertise across several practice areas and build strong client relationships in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 1.5–4 years of PQE
• NZ-based experience in property, private client or commercial matters
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

You'll work closely with experienced Partners, gaining valuable hands-on experience and responsibility from an early stage.

The Opportunity

This is a genuinely varied practice where no two days are the same and there is a steady work flow. You'll be working across a range of matters including:

• Residential and commercial property transactions
• Property development and subdivision matters
• Financing
• Contracting out and separation agreements
• Trusts, wills and enduring powers of attorney
• Business transactions
• Working with other staff on litigation files

You'll have direct client contact, meaningful responsibility, and the opportunity to develop your expertise across several practice areas rather than being confined to a narrow specialisation. Rather than operating in separate teams, Gault Mitchell work more broadly and collaboratively so you'll also have the opportunity to work with and learn from several different Partners and more senior lawyers in the firm. You will work more closely with partners at Gault Mitchell than you will at many other firms.

About You

We are interested in lawyers who:

• Have approximately 1.5 - 4 years' PQE
• Have NZ based experience in property, private client and/or commercial experience (experience in all areas isn't a must)
• Relate well to others
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills
• Thrive in a collaborative team environment
