Job summary

Transpower in Wellington is seeking a proactive Project/Programme Coordinator to support Grid Delivery with end-to-end project support, financial coordination and stakeholder engagement.

You will coordinate activities across the project lifecycle, forecast, invoicing, accruals and reporting, and help ensure projects are delivered efficiently to a high standard. Strong Excel and MS Office skills are essential; knowledge of Microsoft Project is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Experience in project or programme coordination.
  • Strong financial acumen and familiarity with financial management systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and Office 365 skills, including Excel.
  • Microsoft Project experience is an advantage.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as the key point of contact for project support and information, coordinating activities and administration across the project lifecycle
  • Coordinating and supporting financial management, including forecasting, invoicing, accruals and variance reporting, while working closely with Project Managers and our finance team
  • Monitoring and analysing reports and performance metrics to support effective project management
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and identifying opportunities for greater efficiency

Transpower owns and operates New Zealand’s National Grid, the high-voltage transmission network connecting areas of generation with towns and cities across the motu. About the team

Grid Delivery oversees all work on the national grid, including capital project and maintenance activities delivered with our service provider organisations. We manage approximately $700Min capital and $150M in maintenance expenditure annually, with significant growth forecast.

OurnationalProject Support team plays a critical role in enabling this work, providing project support and performance services to over 70 Project Managersand Programme Managers,delivering grid capital investigation and build projects.

What you’ll be doing:

To be considered, your CV and cover letter will demonstrate:
  • Experience in, or a strong interest in, project or programme coordination
  • Sound financial acumen and familiarity with financial management systems
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues and exceptions
  • Advanced capability across Microsoft Office and Office 365, including Excel (experience with Microsoft Project is an advantage)
  • Strong organisational, coordination and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and keep projects running smoothly
While not essential, please let us know if you have:
  • Experience documenting business processes, procedures or training materials
  • Interest in AI‑enabled tools (such as Microsoft Copilot) and a desire to build your capability in this area to support continuous improvement
