Job summary

Southern Cross Healthcare is seeking a Project Manager - ePMO to lead complex Digital Services initiatives across hospital upgrades and major developments. You will coordinate multidisciplinary technology teams and manage the full project lifecycle from planning to handover, reporting to executive sponsors and ensuring delivery within scope, time and budget.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience within a PMO or Enterprise PMO.
  • Delivery of complex technology projects, preferably in healthcare or similarly critical environments.
  • Ability to lead multiple concurrent projects through planning, design, procurement, implementation and handover.
  • Strong commercial acumen including budgets, forecasts and vendor proposals.
  • Proven ability to manage senior stakeholder relationships and present to executives.
  • Coaching or mentoring project teams and contributing to capability building.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex Digital Services projects supporting hospital upgrades and major developments.
  • Coordinate multisector technology teams (infrastructure, networks, apps, cyber security, clinical tech).
  • Own full project lifecycle from planning to handover and benefits realisation.
  • Engage executive sponsors and stakeholders to ensure alignment on scope, cost, quality and timeline.
  • Contribute to ongoing development of the ePMO practice and delivery capability.

Ready to lead projects that will shape the future of healthcare across Aotearoa?

As our Project Manager - ePMO, you'll lead complex Digital Services projects that support hospital upgrades, major developments and other high-priority initiatives across Southern Cross Healthcare. Working at the intersection of technology, property, clinical and operational delivery, you'll play a key role in turning strategic plans into successful outcomes.

This is a highly visible role where you'll work closely with Executive leaders, hospital General Managers, Property & Development teams, clinicians, technology specialists and external delivery partners. You'll be the key point of contact for Executive Sponsors, ensuring technology requirements are understood early, risks and dependencies are managed, and projects are delivered to the required scope, cost, quality and timeframe.

You'll take ownership across the full project lifecycle, from early planning, design and cost estimation through procurement, implementation, commissioning, go-live and handover. You'll coordinate diverse technology teams and subject matter experts across infrastructure, networks, applications, cyber security, clinical technology and operational support, ensuring solutions are practical, supportable and ready for the future.

Beyond individual projects, you'll also contribute to the continued development of our ePMO practice, sharing your expertise, coaching other delivery professionals and helping strengthen project management capability across Southern Cross Healthcare.

  • Significant experience working within a PMO or Enterprise Project Management Office
  • Demonstrable experience delivering complex technology projects, ideally within healthcare, construction, property development or another operationally critical environment
  • Proven ability to independently drive multiple concurrent projects or workstreams through planning, design, procurement, implementation and handover
  • Strong project and programme management capability, with a practical, delivery-focused approach
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary technology teams and subject matter experts
  • Experience contributing technology requirements to building, facility or major development projects
  • Strong commercial awareness, including experience with budgets, forecasts, vendor proposals and change requests
  • Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, including senior and Executive-level stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to deliver effective executive presentations
  • Strong judgement, initiative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and make decisions
  • Experience coaching or mentoring project teams and contributing to project management capability
Highly regarded:
  • Recognised project management qualification such as PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent
  • Knowledge of change management methodologies such as PROSCI/ADKAR
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
