This pushes us to do all we can to create a better future for our people, our communities, and Aotearoa New Zealand.

We’re looking for a Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of business, operational, and infrastructure projects within Mercury’s Generation business.

This is an opportunity to help shape the future of Mercury's generation fleet. You'll lead and contribute to major multi-year programmes including protection system upgrades, safety instrumentation system upgrades, critical asset renewals, and enabling works for our Major Rehabilitation Programme. Working alongside operational, engineering and specialist delivery teams, you'll be involved in projects that enhance the safety, reliability, and performance of renewable generation assets that power communities across Aotearoa.

Tāu e mahi ai | What you’ll be doing
  • Lead projects from planning through to handover.
  • Work with stakeholders, contractors, and delivery partners to achieve safe and successful outcomes.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, cost, risk, and reporting.

You’ll have experience delivering projects and the ability to work effectively across technical, commercial and stakeholder environments.

You’ll bring:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, project management or a technical discipline, a trade qualification, or equivalent practical experience
  • Knowledge of applicable AS/NZS standards and experience working within regulated technical or operational environments
  • Strong communication, influencing and relationship management capability.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to balance safety, quality, cost, schedule, and stakeholder requirements

An electrical background is preferred, ideally with exposure to high-voltage, power, energy, utilities, industrial, infrastructure or other asset-intensive environments. Experience with commissioning, testing, operational readiness and handover processes would also be valuable.

  • $400 one off tax-free payment towards setting up your home office
  • Offers on electricity and telco - if you're a Mercury customer, you can enjoy some great discounts on your electricity and telco bill
  • A diverse workplace where your unique abilities and talents will be recognised and encouraged
  • Annual salary reviews with excellent parental leave policy, with the option to purchase additional leave
  • The opportunities, career paths and facilities associated with working for one of New Zealand's largest multi-utility providers
  • Flexible working policy - The autonomy and trust to work flexibly from our purpose-built premises and from home, recognising the value of this flexibility in the modern world
  • Discounted health insurance and free life and income insurance
  • Excellent well-being programme including up to $100 annual check ups and confidential assistance programme
  • Gender affirmation leave and supportive bereavement leave to be taken when you lose anyone close to you, including your pet
