We're looking for an Enterprise Solution Architect to join our Architecture and Data team, providing thought leadership that bridges business and technology across Mercury.
Reporting to the Architecture & Data Manager, you'll understand Mercury's strategy and goals well enough to frame technology recommendations around business outcomes, not just technical merit. You'll contribute to product and technology strategies, roadmaps, and strategic solutions, and build and evolve the architecture patterns and standards that help teams across Mercury make good technology decisions, with hands-on support where it's genuinely needed.

Tāu e mahi ai | What you'll be doing:
  • Providing thought leadership on technology direction, grounded in Mercury's business strategy and goals
  • Engaging early in the delivery lifecycle, shifting left to guide decisions before they harden
  • Defining and maintaining reference architectures and patterns, and recommending appropriate technologies with stakeholder endorsement
  • Developing conceptual solution models aligned to business needs and technology roadmaps
  • Providing support to ensure solution architecture designs align with reference architectures and patterns, and are well-documented
  • Supporting delivery planning, estimation, and risk management
  • Contributing to Mercury's technology standards, policies, and governance processes
  • Actively contributing to the architecture community to grow capability across Mercury
  • Tertiary qualification in information systems, engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years in a commercial IT environment, including at least 2 years as a solution architect for complex, enterprise-grade solutions
  • Thorough understanding of software design best practices, application development lifecycle, and infrastructure (on-premises and cloud)
  • Proficiency in modelling notations (e.g. UML, ArchiMate, BPMN), agile delivery methodologies, and design/documentation tools (e.g. EA Sparx, Archi, Lucidchart)
  • The ability to translate technical concepts into clear, business-relevant language for stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience contributing to a community of practice, with a genuine interest in growing capability in others
  • A curious, adaptable mindset - you take ownership, connect well across teams, and do what's right for the people you work with
  • Additional 5 days leave per annum (MyDays)
  • $400 one off tax-free payment towards setting up your home office
  • A diverse workplace where your unique abilities and talents will be recognised and encouraged
  • Annual salary reviews with excellent parental leave policy, with the option to purchase additional leave
  • The opportunities, career paths and facilities associated with working for one of New Zealand's largest multi-utility providers
  • Discounted health insurance and free life and income insurance
  • Excellent well-being programme including up to $100 annual check ups and confidential assistance programme
  • Gender affirmation leave and supportive bereavement leave to be taken when you lose anyone close to you, including your pet
