Mercury NZ Limited seeks an experienced Site Engineer - Electrical to support maintenance and operations at hydro generation assets along the Waikato River. You will bring sound electrical engineering judgement to complex problems and work closely with operators, maintainers and project teams to deliver practical, well-reasoned solutions.
The role is site-based, with opportunities to influence asset reliability, safety and performance through engineering improvements and effective change
Mercury is a bold future-focused organisation, providing energy and telecommunications to more Kiwis than anyone else, leading the way with renewable energy and working toward a sustainable future. At the heart is our purpose. Taking care of tomorrow: connecting people and place today. This pushes us to do all we can to create a better future for our people, our communities, and Aotearoa New Zealand.
Bring your electrical engineering experience closer to the assets and people that keep Aotearoa New Zealand powered.
As our Site Engineer - Electrical, you'll provide technical engineering support to the maintenance and operational teams responsible for Mercury's renewable hydro generation assets. You'll work on practical engineering challenges that directly influence asset reliability, performance and safety, from investigating equipment issues and assessing asset condition through to managing engineering improvements and supporting complex work back into service.
This is a site-based role where you'll work closely with operators, maintainers, project teams and other engineering specialists. We're looking for someone who can bring sound electrical engineering judgement to complex problems while valuing the practical knowledge and perspectives of the people working with our plant every day.
As a site-based role, your location of work will be a hydro station along the Waikato river and may suit people living in the Hamilton, Cambridge, Rotorua, or Taupo regions.
You’ll bring relevant electrical engineering experience and the technical depth to investigate problems, assess risk and develop practical, well-reasoned solutions. You'll be comfortable taking ownership of engineering issues and working through complexity rather than relying on others to provide the answer. Just as importantly, you'll know that good engineering outcomes come from working well with the people around you. You'll listen to and draw on the practical knowledge of operators and maintainers, communicate technical issues clearly and be comfortable constructively challenging or being challenged when working towards the right outcome.
Experience within electricity generation or process environments would be an advantage.
