Jora New Zealand seeks a qualified Project Coordinator/Manager to oversee construction projects in Auckland. You will interpret drawings, coordinate labour and materials, and liaise with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

The role emphasizes strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork, with a focus on safety, quality, and compliance across project sites.

Qualifications

  • At least five years of proven experience in a similar field or NZQA Level 7 degree, or higher qualification with related NZ focus.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and building codes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Interpreting and reviewing architectural drawings, plans, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Coordinating labour resources and overseeing procurement, scheduling and delivery of materials, plant and equipment.
  • Consulting with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to support timely project completion.
  • Negotiating with owners, developers and subcontractors to ensure cost-effective delivery.
  • Developing and implementing work programs and construction schedules.

The project builder has an ability to plan, coordinate, and manage all aspects of building works, including schedules, budgets, contractors, consultants, and on-site operations, while ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and building regulations.

A good communicator and effective problem-solver, skilled at managing multiple stakeholders, mitigating risks, and driving projects forward to successful, on-time, and on-budget completion. Dedicated to delivering high-quality construction results while building strong, trusted relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, project teams, etc.

Main Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Interpreting and reviewing architectural drawings, plans, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Coordinating labour resources and overseeing the procurement, scheduling and delivery of materials, plant and equipment.
  • Consulting and liaising with architects, engineering professionals, technical specialists, trades workers and other relevant professionals.
  • Negotiating with building owners, property developers and subcontractors to facilitate the timely and cost-effective completion of construction projects.
  • Preparing and evaluating tenders, quotations and contract bids in accordance with project requirements.
  • Developing, coordinating and implementing comprehensive work programs and construction schedules for project sites.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to applicable building legislation, regulations and standards relating to performance, quality, cost and workplace safety.
  • Coordinating and arranging the submission of building plans, documentation and applications to relevant local authorities.
  • Managing construction works under contract and engaging specialised subcontractors to deliver specific building services.
  • Monitoring and overseeing the quality, standards, progress and performance of subcontractors’ work to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Must undertake other duties as delegated by the leading hand.
  • Must adhere to all company policies including Quality Assurance and Occupational Health and Safety

Qualification, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Must have atleast five years of proven experience in similar field or A bachelor's degree at NZQCF Level 7, or a higher qualification with the minimum equivalent of 360 credits, which includes the requirements of a New Zealand major in quantity surveying or construction economics or A Graduate Diploma at NZQCF Level 7, or a higher qualification, which includes the knowledge requirements of a New Zealand Graduate Diploma in the focus areas of construction, construction management or construction project management or A diploma at NZQCF Level 6, or a higher qualification, with the minimum equivalent of 240 credits, which includes the knowledge requirements of a New Zealand Diploma (Level 6) in the focus areas of quantity surveying, construction economics, construction management or building.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and building codes.
  • A team member must have good communication skills, interpersonal skills and also timemanagement skills.
  • Must present a good quality and high standard work to the client.
  • Must be able to work in an unsupervised area, safe and trustworthy.
  • Must be a positive team player.
  • Creative and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • No registration or licencing required.
