Job summary

Thames-Coromandel District Council is seeking a senior leader to shape how the Council plans, governs and delivers its capital investment programme. You will head the Project Delivery team and provide leadership, systems and oversight to turn Council priorities into well-planned, deliverable programmes and projects.

Working across Council, elected members, local iwi, communities, funding partners, consultants and contractors, you will combine strategic oversight with practical delivery

Qualifications

• Strong people leadership and collaborative team culture
• A tertiary qualification in engineering, project management or related field
• Significant programme management experience delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across design, procurement, construction and implementation
• Experience in capital portfolio planning, governance, financial oversight, performance monitoring and senior-level reporting
• Strategic judgement and political acumen with ability to navigate competing priorities and provide impartial advice
• Strong commercial, procurement and contract management capability with knowledge of NZS 3910, NZS 3915 and NZS 3916 desirable
• Working knowledge of legislation relevant to local government and infrastructure delivery

What you will bring

• A tertiary qualification in engineering, project management or a related field
• Significant programme management experience delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across design, procurement, construction and implementation

• Strategic judgement and political acumen, with the confidence to navigate competing priorities and provide clear, impartial advice
• Strong commercial, procurement and contract management capability, with knowledge of NZS 3910, NZS 3915 and NZS 3916 highly desirable
• Working knowledge of legislation relevant to local government and infrastructure delivery
