Are you highly organised, comfortable working with computer systems and interested in helping keep a busy manufacturing operation moving?

BA Pumps & Sprayers is a well-established New Zealand business supplying quality pumping, spraying and agricultural solutions nationwide. We are looking for a Production Planner to coordinate our production plan across Fabrication and Assembly, including the external processing required between these stages.

This opportunity could suit someone with previous production planning or scheduling experience, or an organised and capable person from a manufacturing or operational background who is ready to develop their career in production planning.

About the role

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will develop and manage daily and weekly Fabrication and Assembly schedules, helping ensure production orders progress through the complete manufacturing process and are completed on time.

You will coordinate priorities across Fabrication, Assembly and external processing, including galvanising and powder coating. Working closely with our Production, Procurement and Warehouse teams, you will help ensure materials and components are available when required and identify potential delays or bottlenecks before they affect the production schedule.

This is a hands‑on and varied role requiring excellent organisation, confidence with computer systems and the ability to learn quickly and respond to changing priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain daily and weekly Fabrication and Assembly schedules
  • Coordinate priorities across Fabrication, Assembly and external processing
  • Monitor production orders through the complete manufacturing process
  • Review workshop and assembly capacity and adjust priorities according to demand and available resources
  • Identify potential production delays, bottlenecks or material constraints and take proactive action
  • Ensure components are fabricated, externally processed and available in time to support the Assembly schedule
  • Arrange and monitor external processing, including hot-dip galvanising, electro-galvanising and powder coating
  • Raise and manage purchase orders for external processing suppliers
  • Track materials sent for external processing and ensure they are returned when required
  • Monitor job progress against planned completion dates and communicate any exceptions, delays or changes
  • Work closely with Production, Procurement and Warehouse to ensure materials and components are available when required
  • Maintain accurate production planning and work‑order information in the ERP system
  • Communicate production priorities and schedule changes clearly across the business
  • Support improvements in production planning, scheduling, capacity visibility, workflows and ERP system utilisation
What you’ll bring
  • Previous production planning, scheduling, supply chain or manufacturing experience would be an advantage
  • Alternatively, a practical manufacturing or operational background and a genuine interest in developing production planning skills
  • Strong computer skills and the confidence to learn new systems quickly
  • Experience using an ERP, production planning or similar business system would be beneficial
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A practical understanding of production workflows and manufacturing processes
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate information
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems
  • Clear communication skills and the confidence to work with internal teams and external suppliers
  • The ability to adapt when production requirements and priorities change
  • A collaborative attitude and commitment to continuous improvement
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
