Job summary

OceanaGold Waihi is seeking Trainee Underground Mine Operators to join our team in Waihi, New Zealand. You will join a 50/50 roster, enjoy a great work-life balance, and be supported by a structured 8-week training programme focused on safety, induction, emergency procedures and SOPs.

The role includes hands-on supervision, development and production tasks, plus the potential for career growth within a large mining operation.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• Full Class 1 Driver Licence (manual) is essential.
• Good level of fitness.
• First Aid Certificate preferred.
• Ability to pass pre-employment checks including medical and functional fitness assessment, and drug/alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to the underground mining team to achieve budgeted development and production targets.
• Attend an 8-week training programme (all dayshifts) covering Underground Induction, Emergency procedures, SOPs and practical skills.
• Deliver personnel and equipment to job sites and return surplus supplies to stores.
• Assist with face setup, production sampling and general underground housekeeping.
• Operate and load equipment; perform pre-start and shutdown checks; maintain a clean, safe work area and report faults.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Provide assistance to the underground mining team so that budgeted development and production targets areachieved.

Operational:

8 ‑week training programme (all dayshifts) consistingof:

• Underground Induction and orientation.
• Emergency procedures.
• Nipper duties and relevant SOP’s.
• Truck operating SOP’s and practicalskills.

Role may include, but not limited to the followingtasks:

• Deliver personnel and equipment to job sites and returns surplus supplies tostores.
• Offsides and assists Jumbo Operators to achievetargets.
• Assist with the collection of productionsamples.
• Assist with face setup.
• Underground housekeeping.
• Assist with mine pump maintenance and installation.
• Perform pre-start and shut down checks on all equipment to ensure units are kept clean and in aserviceable condition.
• Load and transport ore from chutes/loader totipple.
• Hose down hang ups inchutes.
• Keep loading area clean and ensure spillage is cleaned up on trammingdrive.
• Operate equipment by day andnight.
• Understand underground mine layout and groundconditions.

Other:

• Assist with the training and development of other mine operators by providing on-the-job information, mentoring and guidance to ensure they are operatingsafely.
• Carry out all other duties that may reasonably berequired.

Qualifications

The successful candidate(s) willrequire thefollowing:

• 18 + years ofage.
• Full class 1 Driver License (ability to drivemanual vehicles is essential).
• A good level offitness.
• First Aid Certificate (preferred).
• Ability to pass all pre-employment background checks including amedical and functional fitness assessmentas well as drug and alcoholtesting.

Experience

• Previous experience operating equipment in mining environment is an advantage but notessential.
• Reliable and committed to working rostered shifts and maintaining astrong workethic.
• High commitment tosafety.
• Knowledge of equipmentoperation.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Initiative—ability to work with minimal supervision.
