Job summary

Foodstuffs South Island Limited is seeking an Assistant Manager for the Produce Department in Timaru. This hands-on leadership role requires managing a team, maintaining high standards of presentation, quality, availability and food safety while delivering excellent customer service.

You will work closely with the Produce Manager to keep the department running smoothly in a fast-paced store environment, with the physical demands of lifting up to 20kg and occasional forklift training available.

As the first thing our customers see when they walk into the store, our Produce Department sets the tone for the entire shopping experience. That’s why presentation, freshness and quality are our top priorities.

With our current Assistant Manager moving on to a new opportunity, we’re looking for someone to step into this important leadership role.

Working closely with our Produce Manager, you will assist in the day-to-day running of this busy department. We are looking for someone who can confidently lead a team, thrive in a fast-paced environment and uphold our high standards of presentation, quality, availability, food safety and customer service.

You’ll enjoy juggling multiple tasks, have a sharp eye for detail, love driving a hard bargain and be happy rolling your sleeves up and getting stuck in.

This is a hands-on role, so a good level of fitness and the ability to comfortably lift up to 20kg is essential.

A forklift licence is a bonus, although we’re happy to put the right candidate through this training.

This is a full time Sunday – Thursday role. Hours to be discussed at the interview.
