Job summary

New World Centre City, part of Foodstuffs South Island, is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager for the Produce team to uphold high standards of freshness, food safety and customer service. You will help lead daily operations and staff development in a busy produce department.

The role is full-time (40-45 hours per week) with Fri/Sat daytime shifts, offering progression opportunities in a supportive, safety-focused workplace with competitive remuneration.

• Support the Produce Manager in overseeing daily operations, inventory management and staff development.
• Contribute to team leadership, staff training and a culture of exceptional customer service.

• Fri/Sat 5:00am - 2:00pm

Tasks/Responsibilities

You’ll contribute to an excellent customer experience by:

• Supporting the Produce Manager to Assist in overseeing daily operations, inventory management, and staff development within the produce department.
• Contribute to team leadership, staff training, and enabling a culture of exceptional customer service.
• Ensuring the department’s excellence in quality, freshness and customer satisfaction, maintaining high standards of product presentation and operational efficiency.
• Support the implementation of strategic initiatives to maximise sales, profitability and competitive advantage in fresh produce offerings.
