Job summary

Watercare Services Limited in Auckland seeks an Instrumentation Technician for the Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant. You will apply instrumentation expertise to ensure drinking water and wastewater systems operate safely and efficiently.

You will test, calibrate, install, repair and inspect control systems and monitoring devices, respond to alarms, and keep precise calibration records. This role suits a self-motivated professional with strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Background in instrumentation and control systems.
  • National Certificate in Industrial Instrumentation and Control Level 4 or equivalent is required/advantage.
  • Electrical Registration or EST is helpful.

Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation Technician to join our team based at our Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant.

This will be an exciting role for someone that wants to prove their strength in instrumentation and problem solving to ensure that our drinking water and wastewater services are effectively supplied to the Auckland community.

Your role will be to ensure that equipment is working properly, safely, and efficiently.

Your responsibilities will be to test, calibrate, install, repair and inspect control systems and monitoring devices.

Day to day you will be:

  • Maintaining the operational functionality of instrumentation and control systems
  • Installing and commissioning additions or upgrades to existing systems
  • Responding to control system alarms as they arise
  • Notifying supervisors of any systems found to be at risk
  • Maintaining accurate records of calibration or test results
Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | About you

You’ll need a proven background in instrumentation. You will also need a National Certificate in Industrial Instrumentation and Control Level 4 or equivalent - current Electrical Registration or a minimum Electrical Service Technician (EST) would be an added advantage.

You’ll be a motivated self-starter with a positive can-do attitude and passionate about Wastewater and Water.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • An in-depth technical knowledge of process control systems and experience in PLC, SCADA & DCS systems, especially their application in a continuous process environment
  • The ability to lead and work with a team of technical specialists
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and work independently
  • Have attention to detail with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
