Job summary

Watercare Services Limited in Auckland seeks a confident Process Operator at Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant to maintain optimal plant performance and ensure safe, reliable wastewater treatment operations. The role involves monitoring plant data via DCS/SCADA, responding to faults, keeping records, coordinating with contractors, and supporting health and safety procedures.

It operates on a 12-hour roster, including weekends.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Minimum NCEA Level 2 or Sixth Form Certificate.
• NZQA Certificate in Wastewater Treatment (Site Technician) preferred.
• Experience with wastewater treatment processes.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements.
• NZ driver's licence in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Carry out critical operational tasks to maintain wastewater treatment processes.
• Monitor and interpret plant data using DCS/SCADA systems and adjust processes.
• Diagnose, respond to, and report plant faults and alarms.
• Maintain accurate records of process operations and activities.
• Receipting and handling chemicals and supplies.
• Coordinate between contractors and other operators.
• Support health and safety procedures and ongoing monitoring.

We are currently seeking a confident, enthusiastic problem-solver who thrives on challenge to join our team as a Process Operator. Based at our Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant, you will be responsible for maintaining optimal plant performance and process efficiency to support safe, reliable wastewater treatment operations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out critical operational tasks to maintain wastewater treatment processes
• Monitoring and interpreting plant data using DCS/SCADA systems, and adjusting processes to ensure optimal performance
• Diagnosing, responding to, and reporting plant faults and alarms
• Maintaining accurate records of process operations and plant activities
• Receipting and handling chemicals and other operational supplies
• Assisting with coordination between contractors and other operators
• Supporting the implementation and ongoing monitoring of plant health and safety procedures

This role operates on a 12-hour rostered shift pattern, including weekend work.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
• A minimum of NCEA Level 2 or Sixth Form Certificate with a preference for candidates who have completed a NZQA Certificate in Wastewater Treatment (Site Technician) or a related qualification
• Experience working in a high-volume fluid processing or manufacturing environment, with knowledge of wastewater treatment processes
• Experience using electronic process control and data management systemsSound understanding of Health and Safety legislation and requirements
• A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence
