Job summary

Watercare Services Limited in Auckland is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our Māngere Wastewater Treatment Plant team. You’ll be responsible for keeping critical plant equipment operating reliably, diagnosing faults, and performing planned maintenance to minimise downtime.

Qualifications

  • A recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship and a National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Level 4) or equivalent.
  • Experience maintaining continuously operating plant, ideally within large-scale liquid or solids processing environments
  • Confidence reading and interpreting technical drawings
  • A strong commitment to health & safety and safe work practices
  • Hands-on experience servicing pumps

Responsibilities

  • Keep mechanical equipment operating reliably, so the plant can run smoothly
  • Respond to faults and breakdowns, using your skills to diagnose and fix issues
  • Carry out preventative maintenance to minimise downtime and extend equipment life
  • Service pumps and complete field-based mechanical maintenance work
  • Work in a safety-first industrial environment where your wellbeing is a priority

In This Role, You Will

To Succeed In This Role, You’ll Ideally Have

  • A recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship and a National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Level 4) or equivalent
  • Experience maintaining continuously operating plant, ideally within large‑scale liquid or solids processing environments
  • Confidence reading and interpreting technical drawings
  • A strong commitment to health & safety and safe work practices
  • Hands‑on experience servicing pumps

It Would Be Great If You Also Bring

  • Laser alignment experience
  • A Class II driver’s licence (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Hiab experience

A full, clean NZ driver’s licence is essential.
