Job summary

Auckland Council is seeking a Privacy & Official Information Business Partner to work across the organisation, guiding handling of information requests and advising on privacy and official information standards.

You will build strong relationships with senior leaders, executives and the Mayoral Office, applying sound judgment and a customer-focused approach to ensure timely, accurate responses and compliance with statutory obligations.

Qualifications

• This role requires a tertiary qualification in business management, commerce, law, public policy, public management, humanities or finance or equivalent experience.
• At least three years of experience in a large, complex organisation or sensitive environment.
• Knowledge of the Privacy Act 2020 and LGOIMA.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex information clearly.
• Experience building relationships, improving processes and mentoring or training.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of departments and oversee official information requests.
• Ensure high-quality, accurate, and authorised responses within statutory timeframes.
• Provide expert advice and training on privacy and official information compliance.
• Foster a culture of transparency and trust across the organisation.
