Job summary

Future Secure AI is seeking a Principal Software Engineer (AI) to set the technical direction of our products and platform in Auckland. You will lead architectural decisions across squads and collaborate with engineering and customer delivery teams to drive production-ready AI solutions.

The role requires a strong background in AI software, hands-on coding (Node.js/TypeScript), and the ability to align technical choices with business goals.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience, with deep hands-on AI work.
• Strong coding fundamentals; we primarily use Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience with AI frameworks and orchestration tools such as LangChain or LangGraph.
• Security and data governance as first-class design constraints, not afterthoughts.
• Track record of shaping and defending architectural decisions in complex, production environments.
• Communication skills to align technical and non-technical stakeholders around hard trade-offs.
• Sharp problem-solving instincts and follow-through.

Responsibilities

We're hiring a Principal Software Engineer (AI) to help set the technical direction of our products and platform. You'll provide technical leadership across squads, projects, and product, shaping architectural decisions and working closely with engineering and customer delivery teams. What you'll be doing

• Shaping architectural decisions for our AI Co-Worker systems, enabling enterprise customers to deploy persona-based AI Co-Workers that perform complex, end-to-end operational workflows through their own secure platform.
• Designing human-in-the-loop systems that keep humans in control of AI Co-Workers operating in mission-critical environments.
• Setting the technical standards and patterns other engineers will build on.
• Bringing novel approaches to how deterministic and non-deterministic systems are combined in production AI products.
• Ensuring our platform remains model-agnostic, integrating LLMs and AI frameworks from both established and emerging vendors.
• Working closely with customers to deeply understand their needs and make sure solutions exceed their expectations.

Your application should demonstrate

• 10+ years of software development experience, with deep hands-on AI work.
