SLR Consulting is looking for a Principal Ecologist in Dunedin, New Zealand, to develop client relationships and prepare offers for large ecology opportunities. The successful candidate will coach other ecologists while delivering high-quality work across various projects.

With a degree in Ecology and over 10 years of consulting experience, you will lead project management, produce precise reports, and maintain excellent communication with clients. SLR values flexibility and a diverse work culture.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of consulting experience in Ecology with exceptional technical ability in terrestrial/freshwater ecology.
• Experience winning, leading and managing projects.
• Excellent driving history and current driver's licence.

Job description

We are seeking a Principal Ecologist to develop, facilitate, and enhance client relationships and prepare offers for large ecology opportunities within our Ecology & Marine team. The role will include coaching other ecologists and ensuring high‑quality work.

Job Tasks And Responsibilities

• Preparing and leading offers of service for large ecology opportunities, focusing on terrestrial and freshwater ecology
• Developing, facilitating and enhancing effective relationships with clients and internal SLR team members
• Delivering clear and precise, high quality reports
• Undertaking fieldwork activities and resourcing the right teams on projects
• Working within multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects across a range of sectors

Skills And Experience

• Degree in Ecology or a related field
• 10+ years of consulting experience in Ecology with exceptional technical ability in terrestrial/freshwater ecology
• Experience winning, leading and managing projects
• Established network and proven ability to win work
• Experience preparing impact assessments and environmental risk assessments
• Working knowledge of New Zealand environmental legislation, policies, standards and guidelines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• New Zealand citizenship or right to work in New Zealand
• Excellent driving history and current driver's licence
