Job summary

WorkSafe New Zealand is seeking a Principal Advisor Education and Training to join us on an 18-month fixed-term basis to support WorkSafe through a period of transition. Regulatory Effectiveness is a new group established at WorkSafe to strengthen regulatory focus and improve how WorkSafe understands risk, designs interventions, and evaluates impact.

You'll be part of the Product Design and Development team, working closely with subject matter experts, senior leaders and external partners to shape high-quality education, guidance and training products that support better health and safety outcomes across Aotearoa workplaces.

About the role / Ō te tūranga

We're looking for a Principal Advisor Education and Training to join us on an 18-month fixed-term basis to support WorkSafe through a period of transition.

In this role, you'll bring your expertise in instructional design, education and behaviour change to prepare high-level design for guidance and education interventions. You'll use evidence, research, user insights and contemporary learning approaches to help shape products and programmes that are practical, accessible and focused on improving workplace health and safety practice.

This is an opportunity to influence the way WorkSafe designs and delivers education and guidance, while working across teams and with external partners to support effective, system-focused outcomes.You'll work with the team, to ensure fit for purpose guidance development processes and tools are in place.

Salary range / Awhe utu

As part of our remuneration framework, the full salary range for this role is $130,588 -$171,709. The expected appointment base salary is $130,588 - $144,295 (KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contributions are additional). From 1 April 2026 our KiwiSaver employer contribution increased to 3.5%.
