Job summary

Waikato Milking Systems in Hamilton, NZ is seeking a Component Assembly Technician to assemble, test and inspect mechanical, pneumatic and electromechanical parts per specifications and production schedules.

You will work with a supportive production team to ensure our products meet the highest standards of accuracy, safety and reliability, using hand and power tools and reading engineering drawings while maintaining production records.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical, pneumatic and electromechanical components to specification.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Use hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment safely and effectively.
  • Conduct functional testing and quality inspections.
  • Identify and report defects or non‑conformances.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement and Lean/5S principles.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production targets.
