Job summary

Suncorp New Zealand is seeking a commercially minded Portfolio Specialist to support the SME & Rural portfolio, driving insights and improvement across multiple teams. You will partner with leaders to identify challenges, translate data into decisions, and oversee initiatives from concept to delivery.

The role emphasizes data-driven decisions, strong stakeholder relationships, and a focus on customer outcomes within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in portfolio management, business analysis, project delivery, analytics, insurance, or a related role.

• Proven experience managing projects from planning through implementation.

We're looking for a commercially minded and analytical Portfolio Specialist to join our SME & Rural team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the business, supporting strategic decision-making, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and delivering solutions that create value for both our customers and our business.

As a trusted partner to leaders and stakeholders, you'll identify opportunities, solve complex business challenges, and help shape the future direction of our portfolio. You'll collaborate across multiple teams to drive key initiatives from concept through to delivery, while building strong relationships and influencing positive outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing

• Partner with stakeholders to identify business challenges and develop commercially sound solutions.

What You'll Bring

• Experience in portfolio management, business analysis, project delivery, analytics, insurance, or a similar role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to convert data into meaningful business insights.
• Proven experience managing projects and driving initiatives from planning through to implementation.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence outcomes.
• Confidence working across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information and engage diverse audiences.
• A proactive and self-motivated approach with a focus on achieving results.

Ideally you'll have

• A tertiary qualification in Mathematics, Science, Commerce, Technology, or a related discipline,

OR

• 3-5+ years' experience in insurance, analytics, project delivery, business improvement, consulting, or a related field.

Experience within the General Insurance industry will be highly regarded.
