Job summary

Suncorp New Zealand is seeking a commercially minded Portfolio Specialist to join the SME & Rural team. You will support strategic decision-making, drive improvements, and deliver value for customers and the business.

You'll partner with leaders to identify opportunities, translate data into insights, manage projects end-to-end, and influence outcomes across multiple teams while focusing on risk management and portfolio performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in portfolio management, business analysis, project delivery, analytics, insurance, or a similar role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to convert data into meaningful business insights.
• Proven experience managing projects and driving initiatives from planning through to implementation.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence outcomes.
• Confidence working across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information and engage diverse audiences.
• A proactive and self-motivated approach with a focus on achieving results.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to identify business challenges and develop commercially sound solutions.
• Provide data-driven insights, recommendations, and performance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Translate complex information into clear, actionable insights for a wide range of audiences.
• Lead and support initiatives focused on simplification, continuous improvement, and risk management.
• Act as a key contact for Business and Rural portfolios, ensuring appropriate involvement in change initiatives and projects.
• Collaborate across teams to coordinate priorities, drive outcomes, and maintain momentum on strategic work.
• Conduct research and identify opportunities that improve customer outcomes and business performance.
• Contribute to uplifting data maturity and analytical capability across the organisation.
• Support the delivery of strategic business plans and portfolio objectives.
