Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 16th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

  • Manage a small team to deliver outstanding outcomes within agreed timeframes
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to align training materials with business needs
  • Impactful hands-on role – lead and deliver in a scaling environment

Transpower owns and operates New Zealand’s National Grid and, as System Operator, manages the real-time operation of the electricity system. Our core purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand – a future that delivers a new zero carbon economy and a reliable and security electricity system.

About the team

Our Sector Workforce Development Group defines, develops and delivers comprehensive training that helps our people, and the people who work with us, build the skills and capability they need to work effectively and safely. The Technical Training team focuses on specialist learning solutions that support the current and future needs of the transmission sector, ultimately supporting the reliability and safety of the New Zealand power system.

About the opportunity – work in an intellectually stimulating growth sector!

Partner with passionate internal subject matter experts, operations stakeholders and the wider Sector Workforce Development team to manage a portfolio of training materials and programmes that support the safe and reliable operation of the electricity transmission system.

This training portfolio includes the development and maintenance of training materials for groups such as Operations Planning, the National Grid Operations Centre, the National Coordination Centre, the Power System Group and other key operational teams and their tools. Electricity sector experience isn’t required – but an affinity for STEM related or subject matter is advantageous.

This is an opportunity to further develop a small, high-functioning team and operating model focused on quality outcomes for our people, while demonstrating your leadership skills and effective management.

What will you bring?

Drive, pace and the ability to context switch and balance and deliver multiple priorities and deliverables concurrently. Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate:

  • Experience designing and developing adult learning, supported by a relevant tertiary qualification in adult education or equivalent experience.
  • People leadership experience gained in a growing or changing environment.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, including portfolio, programme or project management experience.
  • Highly effective stakeholder engagement, with the ability to manage complexity and work through ambiguity.
