Job summary

Westroads on the West Coast is seeking a Roading Construction/Maintenance candidate for a permanent full-time role in Whataroa and surrounding South Westland.

You will operate and maintain plant equipment such as graders, rollers, excavators and loaders, perform inspections, and assist with loading, unloading and transport of materials while complying with health and safety regulations and project schedules.

Qualifications

• Must have proven experience in roading or construction operating excavators/loaders.
• Ability to work flexible hours to cover on-call roster with emergency works.
• Able to work in a team, or unsupervised and independently.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain plant equipment (graders, rollers, excavators, loaders).
• Conduct regular inspections and routine maintenance on machinery.
• Assist with loading, unloading and transportation of materials.
• Ensure health and safety regulations are followed at all times.
• Adhere to project schedules and deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
• General labouring duties such as shovelling, digging, and raking.

Job Description

As part of our Roading department, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in our Roading Construction and Maintenance projects.

Work may include:

• Operatingand maintaining plant equipment efficiently and safely (our machinery includes graders, rollers, excavators, loaders)
• Conducting regular inspections and carrying out routine maintenance on machinery
• Assisting with loading, unloading, and transportation of materials as required
• Ensuringcompliance with health and safety regulations at all times
• Adheringto project schedules and deadlines
• Communicatingeffectively with supervisors and colleagues and working in collaboration with them
• General Labouring duties are also required and may include shovelling, digging, raking, etc

This is a permanent full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our projects in South Westland and maintaining the roads for our region's users.

Desired Skills and Experience

MUST HAVES:

• Proven experience in Roading or Construction operating excavators/loaders
• Class 4 driver's licence, and endorsements for W, T, R
• Able to work flexible hours to cover the on-call roster with emergency works
• Ability to work as part of a team, or unsupervised and independently

NICE TO HAVE:

• Class 5 driver's licence
• Leadership experience at Foreman level
• Field experience with AWM/RAMM
