Job summary

Niagara Sawmilling Company Ltd in Invercargill is seeking an experienced Plant Maintenance Engineer to ensure reliability, safety, and performance of our heavy industrial plant. You will work with production, engineering and leadership teams to maintain and upgrade equipment.

You will diagnose faults, perform planned and reactive maintenance across remanufacturing operations, and contribute to preventative maintenance strategies while mentoring the wider maintenance team.

Qualifications

• Proven maintenance engineering experience in heavy industry.
• Experience in New Zealand or Australia preferred.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
• Focus on safety and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the remanufacturing plant.
• Diagnose faults, troubleshoot breakdowns, and implement long-term solutions.
• Contribute to preventative maintenance strategies to minimise downtime.
• Work with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and plant upgrades.
• Ensure work complies with health and safety requirements and best practice.
• Provide technical input and mentoring within the maintenance team.
