Job summary

Turbo Staff in Christchurch is seeking a pipefitter to join our busy team. You will work on long-term residential, commercial, and construction projects, installing and maintaining piping systems and coordinating with other trades.

The role requires 3+ years of pipefitting/plumbing experience, Site Safe, and the ability to read plans and work safely on-site. We offer a competitive hourly rate and ongoing contract opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of pipe-fitting or plumbing experience in commercial and residential projects.
• Current Site Safe certification.
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and thread machines.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret plans to install piping systems.
• Measure, cut, fabricate, and install PVC and copper pipes with leak-free connections.
• Install and maintain fire protection systems per safety standards.
• Test systems, repair leaks, replace pipes, and upgrade piping where needed.
• Follow safety protocols and coordinate with other trades.

Due to our clients' requirements and timeframes, only candidates with eligibility to work in New Zealand will be considered for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting plans to install overhead and underground hot/cold water piping systems, sanitary plumbing, and water supply lines
• Measuring, cutting, fabricating, and installing PVC and copper pipes with leak-free connections, including copper brazing and pipe threading
• Installing and maintaining fire protection systems, such as fire hydrants, hose reels, and sprinklers, in accordance with safety standards
• Conducting system tests, detecting and repairing leaks, replacing damaged pipes, and assisting with upgrades and insulation of piping systems
• Following all safety protocols and industry regulations, while working collaboratively with other trades to ensure timely project completion

Requirements

• A 3+ years' experience in pipe-fitting or plumbing in commercial and residential projects.
• Ability to identify and fix leaks, replace pipes, and troubleshoot systems.
• Current Site Safe certification.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment and thread machines
• EWP and Limited license preferred but not required.
