Job summary

Health New Zealand is seeking a Physiotherapist for the CREST team on a part-time parental leave cover (0.8FTE) through to June 2025. Work will be in the community with clients at home, focusing on safety, independence and holistic care.

You will assess, plan and implement rehabilitation, coordinate with families and whanāu, and contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration while managing a caseload in a dynamic community setting.

Qualifications

• NZ Registered Physiotherapist is required.
• Parental leave cover position; part-time 0.8FTE through to June 2025.
• Community/home-based rehabilitation focus with CREST.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

The Community Rehabilitation Enablement Support Team (CREST) is at the forefront of community-based healthcare, working with clients to optimise safety and independent functioning in their own homes. As a Physiotherapist in CREST you will be required to look at clients holistically but focus on the details to meet their safety and rehabilitation needs at home.

We have a fixed term, part-time parental leave (0.8FTE) opportunity through to June 2025 for a NZ Registered Physiotherapist. Currently we work Monday – Friday. The days required for this position are to be negotiated.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking physiotherapy assessments and developing and implementing intervention and treatment plans in conjunction with the client and whānau;
• Managing and prioritising a busy caseload;
• Carrying out assessments and treatments plans in a holistic manner with a view to possible referral to other disciplines and support agencies;
• Ensuring timely assessment of patient needs on discharge to ensure optimum support is provided as they return to their homes.

Skills and Experience

• The ability to hit the ground running with the energy and passion to deliver a high standard of care to patients;
• Flexibility and adaptability to work as a member of an inter-disciplinary team;
• Enthusiasm for knowledge sharing across and beyond your discipline;
• The ability to establish an early rapport with patients and families, and interact with a wide range of people from varying backgrounds;
• As this is a community position and travel is required, a full NZ Driver’s licence is essential;
• Demonstrated specialty area experience and professional development is preferable.
