Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Dunedin Hospital is seeking a physiotherapist to support the development of children aged 0–16 in both centre and community settings. The role involves collaborating with families and a wide network of health professionals to deliver patient-centered care.

Primary focus is paediatrics and neurorehabilitation with opportunities for ongoing professional development. Fixed term, part-time (0.6 FTE, 24 hours/week) until June 2027, with a competitive salary,

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand and an Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
  • Experience in paediatrics and/or neurorehabilitation.
  • Experience with wheelchair and seating assessments is preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Work with children aged 0–16 and their families in Coastal Otago, in centre and community settings.
  • Collaborate with whanau, patients and other services to set realistic outcomes and interventions.

Salary Band – $79,014 and $110,290 p.a pro rata + Kiwisaver + on-site employee gym

Fixed Term, part time (0.6 FTE), 24 hours per week until end of June 2027

About the role
  • Work alongside children (0-16 years) and their families throughout Coastal Otago in both the centre and community settings.
  • Cooperate and work actively with other services within Health New Zealand and the wider community such as Well Child Tamariki Ora providers, public health nurses, orthopaedic surgeons, Peke Waihanga, preschools, schools, CCS Disability Action and Ministry of Education Learning Support Teams to support children and their families
  • Collaborate with whanau and patients to set realistic, patient-centric outcomes and appropriate interventions.
  • Actively participate as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team and support the development of others including students.
About you
  • Enthusiastic and motivated, with a natural empathy and passion for working with children and whanau.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with a diverse range of patients and staff.
  • Current registration with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).
  • Experienced physiotherapist with previous experience in paediatrics and/or neurorehabilitation who is looking to consolidate or develop their paediatric skillset.
  • Previous experience with wheelchair and seating assessments preferable, but not essential.
