Job summary

Higgins in Hamilton seeks an experienced Foreperson to lead the day-to-day delivery of chipseal surfacing works, coordinating crews, plant, materials and traffic management to keep each job safe, well organised and on programme.

You will use practical surfacing knowledge to respond to changing site conditions, maintain quality standards and give your crew clear direction on site, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Five years+ in road surfacing with on-site crew leadership.
• Strong knowledge of chipseal operations (binder spraying, chip spreading, rolling).
• Class 1 driver’s licence with WTR endorsements or ability to obtain them.
• STMS qualification or close work with traffic management operations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, sequence and coordinate chipseal surfacing activities.
• Supervise binder spraying, chip spreading, rolling and traffic management.
• Organise labour, plant, subcontractors, suppliers and materials.
• Monitor weather and site conditions; adjust plans as needed.
• Complete quality checks, surfacing records and site documentation.
• Lead pre-starts and toolbox meetings; coach crew members on safety.
