Job summary

Higgins is seeking an experienced Foreperson to join our team delivering asphalt surfacing projects across the Bay of Plenty. This hands-on leadership role requires coordinating people, plant and materials while keeping work moving safely and efficiently.

You will lead crews daily, plan activities, monitor progress and quality, and collaborate with subcontractors and traffic teams. A Class 1 Driver Licence is preferred; KiwiSaver and upskilling opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in asphalt surfacing, road maintenance or civil construction.
• Experience leading crews or coordinating site operations in a fast-paced setting.
• A Class 1 Driver Licence, with WTR endorsements highly regarded
• Clear communication skills and a commitment to safety, quality and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise asphalt surfacing crews across daily site operations
• Plan work activities, coordinate resources and manage site readiness
• Monitor productivity, progress and quality outcomes throughout each shift
• Drive a strong safety culture through pre-starts, risk management and team leadership
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers and traffic management teams on site
• Coach, support and develop crew members while maintaining high performance standards
