Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Hawke's Bay is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) and Preadmissions/Acute Pain Service. You will deliver specialist perioperative nursing care during recovery after surgery and anaesthesia in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasizes advanced assessment, timely clinical decision making, and partnership with anaesthetists, surgeons, and whānau to ensure patient safety and high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Current Nursing Council of NZ registration and Annual Practising Certificate.
• Postgraduate nursing experience in surgical, perioperative, critical care, or acute care settings.
• Advanced assessment and clinical decision making skills.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management abilities.
• Commitment to professional development, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and equitable health outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist nursing care to patients in PACU during recovery after surgery and anaesthesia.
• Assess, monitor, and respond to changing clinical needs to ensure patient safety.
• Collaborate with anaesthetists, surgeons, nurses and multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver optimal outcomes.
