Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit at Dunedin Hospital. The role is 0.8 FTE (64 hours per fortnight) on a permanent basis, with salary band $81,000–$106,000 p.a prorata plus Kiwisaver.

The unit covers a wide range of surgical specialties and provides comprehensive orientation. Applicants must be currently registered with the NZ Nursing Council and hold an APC, with PACU experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Current NZ Nursing Council registration and APC
• PACU or surgical experience preferred
• Able to work autonomously and make rapid decisions
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Provide post-anaesthetic care to surgical patients in PACU
• Develop airway management and acute pain control skills
• Work rostered shifts with on-call coverage
• Contribute to orientation and ongoing skill development
