Job summary

Hawkes Bay DHB seeks a Registered Nurse for the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) and Preadmissions/Acute Pain Service. You will deliver specialist nursing care in a fast-paced perioperative setting, monitor patients post-surgery, and collaborate with anaesthetists and surgeons to achieve optimal recovery outcomes.

Applicants must hold NZ nursing registration with an Annual Practising Certificate and have postgraduate perioperative experience.

Qualifications

• Current Nursing Council of New Zealand registration and an Annual Practising Certificate.
• Postgraduate perioperative, surgical, or acute care experience preferred.
• Advanced assessment and clinical decision making skills.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management abilities.
• Commitment to professional development and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist nursing care in PACU during early postoperative recovery.
• Monitor and respond to evolving patient conditions to ensure safety.
• Collaborate with anaesthetists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support patients and whānau through the recovery process.
