Job summary

Māngere College is seeking a proactive Performing Arts Technician to support the department’s daily operations. The role combines technical support, administration, event coordination and student engagement to ensure spaces are ready for teaching and performances.

Working 0.8 FTE (term time only) at Māngere College, you will collaborate with the Head of Department, manage schedules, assist with productions, and promote student achievements through digital platforms and communications.

Qualifications

• Experience in performing arts or related field.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Performing Arts spaces and coordinate maintenance.
• Manage itinerant music lesson schedules and attendance.

• Support productions, performances and departmental events.
• Update Performing Arts website, newsletters and social media.
• Promote student achievements through digital communications.
• Raise purchase orders and support departmental admin.
• Support health and safety and continuous improvement.

Performing Arts Technician (Permanent, 0.8 FTE)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Performing Arts Technician to support the day-to-day operations of our vibrant Performing Arts Department. This is a varied role that combines technical support, administration, event coordination, digital communications, and student support. Working closely with the Head of Department, you will help ensure teaching and performance spaces are well maintained, support curriculum delivery, coordinate learning opportunities, and showcase student achievements through digital platforms and communications.

This is a permanent, part-time position (0.8 FTE, term time only) based at Māngere College. Remuneration will be in accordance with the Support Staff in Schools' Collective Agreement, with relevant qualifications and experience considered when determining the starting rate.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

• Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Experience in performing arts, event production, music technology, media, or a related field.
• Confidence using digital platforms, social media, and website content management systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience with audio-visual, lighting, multimedia, or technical equipment would be an advantage.
• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
• A commitment to supporting students and promoting the vision, values, and cultural identity of Māngere

Key areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

• Maintaining Performing Arts teaching and performance spaces and coordinating maintenance requirements.
• Managing itinerant music lesson schedules and monitoring attendance.
• Coordinating EOTC documentation and external learning opportunities.
• Assisting with the development of NCEA-aligned learning resources.
• Supporting productions, performances, and departmental events.
• Managing and updating the Performing Arts website, newsletters, and social media platforms.
• Promoting student success and department activities through digital communications and engagement.
• Raising purchase orders and supporting departmental financial administration.
• Supporting health and safety requirements and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
