Job summary

Ara Poutama Aotearoa – Department of Corrections is seeking a People Adviser to provide general People & Capability advice to line managers. You will support staff queries and manage staff changes via the People Hub, while collaborating with Senior People Advisers across sites in a hybrid environment.

The role requires HR generalist expertise, public sector experience, and strong knowledge of employment legislation, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Qualifications

• Experience providing generalist HR/People advice to managers and staff.
• Public sector experience or experience in a large/complex organisation.
• Solid understanding of employment legislation and its practical application.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Proven ability to build strong, professional working relationships.
• Comfort working with various HR systems, platforms and technologies.

The People Adviser develops, fosters and maintains excellent working relationships with managers to assist them to meet their business objectives.In addition, you will support our staff by responding to general employment related queries on a variety of matters as required.
