Job summary

Department of Corrections NZ in New Zealand is seeking a People Adviser to join the People Services team across Wellington, Hawke's Bay and Hamilton. The role delivers general People & Capability advice to line managers and supports staff on employment matters in a hybrid work setting.

You will build strong relationships, apply employment law in practice, and collaborate with Senior People Advisers to deliver end-to-end staff changes through the People Hub.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience delivering generalist HR/People advice to managers and staff.
  • Experience in the public sector or large/complex organisations.
  • Solid understanding of employment legislation and its practical application.
  • Excellent problem-solving and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end People & Capability guidance to line managers.

# People Adviser## About this role* Join our supportive People Services Team!* Three, full-time, permanent positions available.* Based in Wellington, Hawke's Bay and Hamilton, with flexible working supported.**Mō te tūnga | About the role**As a People Adviser you will work within a People Services team, providing general People & Capability advice and support to line managers across the Department of Corrections, Ara Poutama Aotearoa. The People Adviser develops, fosters and maintains excellent working relationships with managers to assist them to meet their business objectives.In addition, you will support our staff by responding to general employment related queries on a variety of matters as required. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with the business in a support capacity alongside the Senior People Advisers across the motu.You will be responsible for the core delivery of People & Capability services including managing end to end processes through our People Hub for staff changes and providing guidance to managers on staffing processes.**Mōu | About you**You are a positive, proactive and approachable person who enjoys working with others and isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves and get things done.
